About Us

THE ROCKVILLE CENTER

A Community Gathering Place for Recreation, Connection & Fun

For generations, The Rockville Center has been a place where neighbors, friends, and families come together to play, celebrate, and connect. As a community-based, member-supported nonprofit, we are dedicated to providing a welcoming space for recreation, fitness, and events that bring people together. Whether you’re swimming at the pool, playing tennis, joining a summer camp, or attending a special event, The Rockville Center is here for you, your family, and our entire community..

Our History & Legacy

MISSION

The Rockville Center was founded through the hard work, generosity, and dedication of our community. Built by former members through fundraising efforts, the Center stands today as a testament to the commitment of local families and volunteers who envisioned a place for year-round recreation and connection.

A significant milestone in our history was the matching donation from philanthropists J. Harwood and Louise Cochrane, which made it possible to establish our pool and center building. To honor their generosity, our gym is named the Cochrane Pavilion—a space that continues to serve as a hub for fitness and community events.

Today, The Rockville Center remains a volunteer-led nonprofit organization, dedicated to enriching lives through intellectual, social, cultural, and athletic endeavors.
